International English Language Testing System

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) stands as a globally recognized assessment of English proficiency, serving as a vital tool for individuals aspiring to study abroad, work, or migrate to English-speaking countries. IELTS is indispensable for various purposes, including visa applications in countries such as the US, UK, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.

There are 3 variants of IELTS. IELTS Academic is primarily for individuals planning to move abroad for higher education. IELTS General Training is for those who wish to move abroad for immigration and work purposes. The IELTS Life Skills and UKVI exam is for those who wish to move to or settle in the UK.

In India, this test is administered by IDP IELTS. The exam is structured into four main sections: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. The students receive a sectional score that ranges from 0-9 for each of the sections and a total score within a 0-9 band range. The validity of the score is 2 years.
