WHAT IS AN ADVANCE PLACEMENT (AP) TEST

The Advanced Placement (AP) Program is a rigorous academic program that allows students to take college-level courses and exams while still in high school. AP courses are taught by qualified high school teachers, and AP exams are scored by college faculty. AP exams are scored on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest score. Students who earn high scores on AP exams can earn college credit and/or placement in advanced courses.
The AP Program offers a wide range of courses in math, science, English, history, and foreign languages. This gives students the opportunity to explore their academic interests and challenge themselves academically. AP courses can also help students develop the critical thinking and writing skills they need to succeed in college and beyond.

BENEFITS OF TAKING AP EXAM

Explore academic interests. AP Exams are offered in a wide range of subjects, including math, science, English, history, and foreign languages. This gives students the opportunity to explore their academic interests and learn more about the subjects they are passionate about.

Challenge yourself academically. AP courses are challenging and require students to think critically and write effectively. This can help students improve their academic skills, which will benefit them in college and beyond.

Make college applications more competitive. Colleges and universities look favorably on students who have taken AP courses and exams. This is because AP courses demonstrate that a student is capable of handling college-level work.

WHEN TO TAKE

AP Exams are only offered in May each year and require students to register in advance. Some high schools in India offer both AP courses and exams, but only to their enrolled students. Authorized AP test centers are open to all eligible students, regardless of their school affiliation.

Students in India who wish to take AP Exams but do not have access to them at their school can register to take them at an authorized AP test center.

COUNTRIES ACCEPT AP SCORES

Most universities in the United States, Canada, UK as well as over 700 institutions outside of the United States, accept AP scores of 3 or higher for credit. This makes the AP Program a valuable way for students to get ahead in college and prepare for their future careers.
